PlanetPath is a mobile application that incentivizes users to travel more sustainably by promoting eco-friendly transportation options such as walking, biking, taking the bus, or ridesharing, and rewarding users with discounts on Uber rides. I completed this project with four team members in which I was the lead designer. This project was submitted to the University of Miami Google Student Developer Club Hackathon where it was reviewed by judges and awarded silver placement.

How it Works:

1. Destination Input:

Users begin by entering their desired location in the app, and PlanetPath uses smart algorithms to calculate the quickest and most sustainable path to that location, taking into account various factors like distance, time, mode of transportation, and carbon emissions.

2. Sustainable Options Ranking:

The app then displays a list of transportation options ranked from best to worst in terms of sustainability. For example, walking or biking may be ranked as the most sustainable options, followed by taking the bus or ridesharing.

3. Confirmation and Commute:

Once users confirm their destination and select a transportation option, they can start their commute. The app provides turn-by-turn directions and tracks the user's progress in real-time.

4. Carbon Emissions and Points:

Upon arriving at their destination, users receive information about the amount of carbon emissions they have saved compared to using a car for the same trip. Users are also rewarded with points based on the sustainability of their chosen transportation option. For example, walking or biking may earn higher points compared to taking the bus or ridesharing.

5. Promo Store:

Users can spend their earned points in the app's promo store, where they can redeem discounts on Uber rides. The more sustainable their transportation choices, the more points they earn, and the more discounts they can avail.
